The Israelites wanted a king like other nations, so God sent Samuel to anoint Saul. However, Saul disobeyed God and was rejected, so God told Samuel to anoint David, a youth and a man after God’s heart, who kept sheep for his father. David was also a musician and wrote many beautiful Psalms.
