On Passover night, Israel left Egypt. The Lord gave a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night to guide and protect them. Pharaoh pursued and trapped them at the Red Sea. Moses lifted his rod, the sea divided, and the people went through it on dry land. The Egyptians followed but were drowned when the sea came back on them.
