Enemy arrows strike the gate as Christian enters it. Good Will talks with him of his encounters so far and of the narrow path leading to Interpreter, who shows him a painting of a devout person. A dusty room is also shown, with Law making sinful dust to fly, but Gospel sprinkles clean water there. Next, Patience endures the scorn of Passion, then Devil tries to quench the eternal flame, but Christ adds oil to it.
