False witnesses Envy, Superstition and Pick-thank speak against Faithful, who defends himself by speaking the truth. Hate-good the judge speaks against him, and the jury is unanimous in condemning him to death. Faithful is cruelly tortured and killed. Hopeful joins Christian and By-Ends comes among also but falls away when Christian examines him.
