The Hebrew scriptures are still the Holy Books of the Jewish nation, written in long leather (parchment) scrolls and copied by scribes who counted every word and letter to ensure exact copies were made. The Greek New Testament was written on papyrus (crushed reeds) and there are 25000 early copies of New Testament portions. Parts of the Bible have been translated into over 3400 languages.
