A young boy has bouts of headaches and high fever and is told he has malaria, a blood infection caused by parasites passed on by mosquitoes. He is given chloroquine and paracetamol and is told to drink a lot of liquids. Mosquitoes breed in standing water like ditches, and these can be filled in. Also, mosquito nets or sheets can be used on beds.
