Israel’s people multiplied in Egypt, and a new king arose who enslaved them ruthlessly. The king commanded all baby boys to be thrown in the river, but Moses was saved. Later Moses killed an Egyptian, had to flee Egypt, and became a shepherd in the desert; but God had not forgotten his people.
