When Adam and Eve sinned against God, they tried to cover their shame and guilt, firstly with fig leaves and then hiding from God’s presence in fear. Adam knew God must punish evil. Adam blamed Eve; Eve blamed the serpent. They were judged for their sin, then separated from God and cast out from the garden.
